DTS

Not in the studio again until Monday but I can say that it seems a cosmetic problem. I've not lost anything. Not tested this scientifically but it looked like the greyed out files appeared in the region list when I was undoing and deleting record passes. Was trying to hit a deadline so I didn't have time to really look into it.

I've never changed the record path from the default or moved/copied files or folders in the finder.

It's happening in sessions created in 8.0.4 but based on a template created in earlier versions.

" Has anyone actually seen a file go missing, or does the message seem to be a red herring and nothing is actually going wrong? "

Cant detect any losses so far, but the pop-up is ....

I "think" it is related to new ( 8.x ) sessions

I've been getting it on sessions that were created on 8.0.4. Nothing appears to actually be missing. Crossing my fingers though as the sessions that it has been cropping up on have only one or two audio files at this begining stage of the project that it is happening on.

Can anyone provide any more details that may help us narrow down the cause? Were these sessions created in a previous version? Can you reproduce this in a new session? Has anyone actually seen a file go missing, or does the message seem to be a red herring and nothing is actually going wrong?

Any detail you can provide would help us immensely in tracking down the problem.
OK. Just opened a file started on 8.0.3. Got the error message upon opening. No files missing. No grayed out regions in region list. File is playing fine.

I've had the same alert window, but I have noticed a difference in files. After comping vocals and fine tuning breaths (yes, fun), non-crossfaded regions moved from their original in and out points. In other words, if I did not place a cross fade between two differing regions, the boundaries of those regions had slightly moved.

This is NOT a good thing. Only since 8.0.4, doesn't discriminate regarding original file creation OS or PT version.

I am getting this almost every time I open a session since upgrading to 8.04. All new sessions created on 8.04. Even on a template with one file in it.

Same here. And when I undo a record pass regions (in italic, like those with missing audio files) remain in the region list.

I've been having this issue for a while now with no apparent solution. Spent some time on the phone with Tech Support and wasn't able to solve the problem. http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=268769

Seems like "An Access Violation Occurred" has a cousin whose come to visit us in 8.0.4

Even though this error message appears randomly, it doesnt seem to affect anything in the session here...
