Red face Re: DAE Error 743 Encountered-CHANGING USB PORT DOESN'T WORK

Well, it seems that just plugging your MBOX in another USB port doesn't really work. i did that and at first it seemed to solve the problem, because at first the Dae error appeard just hitting the play button, but after changing the MBOX to another port I was able to play and navigate through my session for a while until it popped up again. So, for me, just changing the USB port, didn't work!!!!
AVID, please address this problem, we are wasting a lot of useful time in our lives, we need to continue with our projects!
Thanks!!!

Tested this twice :

Reinstalled the MBox2 firmware (even though it's from 2006) and the error disappeared.

Error 743 = Pro tools lost contact with your hardware device for some reason. shut down pro tools and disconnect the wire that your mbox, digi, etc is connected to the computer with, wait five seconds or so and reconnect then start up pro tools again.

worked for me.

I got this error message one day after a power surge hit our studio and my computer re-booted itself. I checked all of my settings and everything was set correctly. What ended up correcting the problem for me was to unplug the power to my M Box (the USB Cord) for about 30 seconds then turn off my speaker power on the sub-woofer and power them back on. That worked immediately. Hope this may help someone else.

Perhaps this error is related to the hard drive you are recording to? Pro Tools 8 instructions advise to power up external drives before powering on the computer. Twice since installing PT8, I have forgotten to do that and experienced problems- the latest being the DAE 743 error where I can get no playback... restarted the computer while leaving the external drive on, and no further problems. Hope this helps!

Default DAE Error 743 solved!

Avid finally released an update to the MBox 2 drivers that seem to fix this issue: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...Mbox-2-Drivers
(at present time, choose 10.3.3 driver)

After a few hours of editing in ProTools 8.0.5LE (in SL AND ML!), not a single error 743!
Time will say if it's gone for ever, but it seems ok!

PT 8.03 . Error DAE 743 when I used a thinner USB cable. Remarkably, when I used my original thicker/heavier cable between computer and mbox2, no DAE error. I've had this happen before where lighter duty cables and/or non-powered usb hubs cause problems. Just go with the best hardware you can...it works for communicating with PT.

Default Re: DAE Error 743 Encountered

Years have passed and I felt like talking to the last MBox users alive. (I'm one!)
So, as long as I've been using 10.3.3 driver together with ProTools 8.0.5LE on MacOS 10.9.5, I had no 743!
Then I installed the 10.3.9 driver (the last ever available... ) and 743 came back sporadically... (so, of course, I backed up to 10.3.3!)
Switching to PT10, I installed again the 10.3.9 driver, thinking it would perhaps be more compatible... but no way.
My conclusion: whenever I'll have to upgrade to a more recent OS, there'll be no more driver available for the MBox (thanks AVID! ), that 'll be the day I'll buy another brand, hopefully able to write reliable drivers!
