Default Pro Tools 12.6 Fader/Metering Issues

I've been having issues with my metering. When I use the fader to adjust the volume, the meter does not read it. The volume will go up and down, but not be shown visually. The only time the volume is represented visually is if I use the clip gain.

Is there any way to fix this small, but annoying issue?

Any feedback is much appreciated!

Thank you!

Your meter is in pre-fader mode. All explained in the reference guide. You really need to read and understand the whole discussion there on signal flow in Pro Tools.

You want it like this.

This way you're always seeing your true levels that are pre fader but post inserts. It's the best way to ensure proper gain staging.
