Default OS Compatibility

I am building a new machine to run PT 8 LE. I was under the impression that I was limited to 32 bit Operating Systems. I see now that PT 8 LE is listed as being compatible with Win 7 64 bit. If this is the case, I may upgrade to that instead of using 32 bit XP as I had intended. Can anyone verify this, or are there known issues with 64 bit Windows 7 running LE? thank you.

Default Re: OS Compatibility

From memory, I think v8.04 upwards is supported on Win7.

If you have a version before 8.04 you'll need to install the update (not to be confused with upgrade) which is free.

Upgrades are not free.

Just to clarify; Some updates are 'Full Installers' and others need a full installation before running the updater. The downloads are labelled to identify whether or not they are a full installer.

If you run a full installer you must un-install any previous version of PT before running the new installation.

On the other hand, if the updater is not a full installer do not un-install previous version. Just run the updater as a 'patch'.
