Major issues with protools HD 8.1 - Snow Leopard

Ola people,

This week i did an upgrade (no clean install) ...from leopard to snow leopard (10.6.4) on my macpro, late 2008.

I then upgraded protools HD 8.03 to protools HD 8.1.
(cs 1 has yet to be installed).

I did diskpermissions repair and trashed protools preference files and dae file.
I have waves 6.06 gold bundle.

I experience alot of issues now in protools :

DAE errors , hard mouse freezes in protools and flickery glitches in the GUI of waves plugins.


Is waves 6.06 not compatible with SL 10.6.3 ??
Sorry, but could not really find this on internet.

or could there be other culprits i have ran into ?

Version 6 is not snow leopard compatible. You should upgrade to version 7. Pay the wup if you're not currently covered.

Besides the Waves thing, I strongly recommend doing a complete clean install of Snow Leopard.

FYI, according to a support message I just received from Waves on another matter: "Waves products are not officially supported under PT 8.1, at the time we support all versions until 8.0.4."

Thank you for all your response !

I'm gonna do a Waves 6 ->> 7 upgrade.

Hope to see that my problems are covered with that upgrade.

I know alot of people do a clean install of snow leopard.
However, i know alot of people that just did an upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard without any issues.
Also, this upgrade method is the "standard" method when you install SL, so i took the plunge and did that (call me lazy lol).

I did a brand new install of 10.6 with 8.1 and Waves 7 and am having no problems.

So if you ARE having problems, and didn't do the setup install right, well, there you go.

Who does it wrong then makes a thread about the problems they're having??

You should have FROZEN your old system drive, then put in a new drive and done everything from scratch! That's the only way to make sure your clients don't start asking for money back or time off their session!!
