Good news.

The M-Audio Fastrack Pro is now compatible with the latest Pro Tools version.

Yeah, that's just great. I already ordered a Firewire Solo when I really wanted the Fast Track Pro. Why couldn't Digi just have said "it will be available for 7.1" and saved me all this hassle of cancelling and re-ordering? Digi knew it was going to be available for 7.1 in a couple of weeks. Nice move guys.

Looking at the way m-audio has dealt with ptmp support, you would have known
that the fast track pro would be supported (with a 99,99% certainty) in the
first major update. Virtualy all interfaces are supported now, why would they
leave out their most upmarket usb-device?

I bought the Fast Track Pro on the day of its eu-release (begining of january).
Because I needed an interface then and wanted to have ProTools support for
the future. That that supported would come in the first major update was nothing
less than obvious if you ask me.

First of all nothing is certain. Secondly, it is still the most prudent choice to go with what is already officially listed as supported. What I should or shouldn't have gambled on is not the issue here. The issue is that they could have easily stated to me on this thread or in a private email, that the Fast Track Pro will be supported in the future and that I can safely buy the interface that I actually wanted. I wouldn't have been disappointed, they would have gotten more money out of me and everybody would have been happy. I see it as a courtesy they could have extended to me which they chose not to.

Anyways, I have better things to do with my time than debate this with you over here so this will be my last post on this matter. The reason for my post was so that Digi can read this and maybe be more courteous towards their potential customers in the future.

Cheers

Did you email them and ask them??

I did.

Spoke with M-Audio Tech support, see below reply received 24 hours after asking:

This is the true current scoop:
