hi everyone,
recently upgraded to Windows 7 + PT HD 9, from Win XP + PTHD 7.4. the XP/7.4 rig ran flawlessly but now i get constant -6031 errors. have tried all the usual tricks but no luck. system specs are as follows: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Intel Q6600 quad 2.4ghz Intel DP35DP motherboard Nvidia 8600GT video card 4gb ram HD 1 PCI-X Lynx Aurora 16 Pro Tools 9.0 cannot afford more than a few days of downtime so any help is much appreciated. thanks in advance for your time, jonathan jetter |

Re: constant -6031 errors after PT9 upgrade
I'd bet your video card drivers are to blame. I'd try to upgrade them. I thought Nvidia fixed their drivers in an update. If that does not work, you will need to upgrade to a supported video card.

Re: constant -6031 errors after PT9 upgrade
I also have a video card that appears to be the same chipset, the Gigbyte Geforce 8600GT fanless card (windows device manager calls it a Nvidia Geforce 8600GT) and I'm also having crash problems in PT9 under Windows 7 64 bit. I've probably got 30 hours+ into trying to debug it all... Interestingly my video card works fine without any extra drivers, just the ones in Win 7 but I've also tried the supplied drivers. My PT9 crashes seem to be mainly when also using my UAD2 quad and when clicking "save" or "save as" in PT9 but perhaps there is a tie in here?
I picked up a used Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 (one of the 3 "supported" cards) and that will be here wednesday. I'll also try the supported Nvidia driver, which oddly is an XP driver. That all said, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! If this doesn't work I'm just about ready to give up and go to the MAC store! Since it seemed to be related to my UAD2 card I called UAD today. However they didn't want to go to the next step (on a replacement UAD2) "just yet", not until I've at least tried Pro Tool's supported video card. As an experiment I even picked up an additional hard drive and did an install of just Win 7, my RME FF800 soundcard driver, UAD2, and PT9. That way I could isolate it all even further. Still no luck. I'll report back after getting the "supported" video card going. My system: Home built PC with Gigabyte EX58-UD3R MB Corsair Dominator 6gb 1600mhz ram x2 WD Caviar black 7200rpm sata drives Gigabyte (Nvidia) 8600GT video card UAD2 quad Windows 7 64 bit RME Fireface 800 (also tried my M-Audio/Avid Fast Track ultra which IS supported by PT, but still a no go) |

Re: constant -6031 errors after PT9 upgrade
Did you get your computer to work with the new video card?
