EA will be across the entire line of Pro Tools, not just HD.
Great news! I'm surprised though. Doesn't elastic audio make beat detective kind of redundant? I'm asking because I never use BD as I work with mainly mideast style percussionists and not kit players.

stretch your sound in San Jose last week demo'ed varispeed, and yes varispeed did alter pitch with tempo. I don't think it's made to find or match a pitch, but it does function as the slow down tape effect (same as repitch in live I think).

Also something cool we saw that hasn't been mentioned here is that if you try to warp a region to far, the region will turn red as a warning that you're seriously risking artifacts/distortion.

Oh and to answer the original poster, I saw no signs of native real time pitch shifting like in acid.

Is there an official release date for 7.4? Any idea of the cost of the upgrade?

From what has been gathered either November 20, 21, or 22, 2007.

After the seminars as we were standing around talking to the instructor and the pitch question did come up and I'm extremely positive that his reply was that it wasn't pitch oriented and that you would still need Autotune or Melodyne. Now what varispeed does in relation to EA I cant say. It wasn't demoed.
Yea I was there also and that's what he said. His name was Steve I think. Anyway he was kind of rushed cause they were running late. He also said think of it as time, not pitch.Who knows,we'll see. He also said SPDIF mirroring was fixed with cs5. Not.

Strike is very cool and sounded good. I would buy it if I wasn't a drummer.

Mid-november is what Phil said on the video, at least.
Any idea about the cost for upgrade 7.3-->7.4?

Cheers;
E.

Just about to finally buy 7.4 with EA.

Can anyone confirm who is naybe using it already, that pitch IS or isnt included? so you can zip un and down the pitch of files (now that they are warped) like you can in Acid or Abelton?

Haven't upgraded yet, but as it says on the tin, it's "Elastic Time".

The only change to pitch would be using the "Varispeed" mode, though that would also effect the timing as well (e.g. double the pitch - half the duration).

I'm certain at some point "Elastic Pitch" will be made available - only effecting the pitch without changing the timing.

In the meantime (assuming you don't want to go outside of PT using Live or Melodyne etc) you could try re-pitching your regions using either the "Varispeed" mode, or better yet the free "Structure" sampler to find the correct key - then print to another track and use Elastic Time to stretch it back out to the correct length.

I'd be interested to hear how that sounds.

No.
Time is the EA way.
Varispeed work like sample rate changing. i.e. slow the tempo and the pitch and length will change.

Still a nice upgrade.
Kantos (RTAS) is the only plug not working for me.
