Default Having installl issues in PC

I've recently switched from Mac to PC and am having a terrible time of trying to install my PT12 onto my PC.

As it starts installing I get an error message saying "The installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) appears to have failed. Do you want to continue the installation?"

If I click continue and try to open PT after installation, I get an error saying "Assertion in ..\ .. \ Sys\ Win32\Sys_FileLocUtilsWin32.cpp", line 344"

I've tried installing some older Visual C++ "updates" but that hasn't helped.

Can anyone offer any advice or sollutions? I would be eternally grateful.

You may have a corrupt installer. Download it again from your Avid Account, do not use Avid Link. Remove all instances of the previous install and use CCleaner to "clean" your Registry. Back up when asked and run CCleaner until it doesn't show anything more to remove.

Reboot the computer. Use a backup program like Acronis or Macrium to make an image of your OS drive. I do this before any update/upgrade/uninstall/install so that I can get back to a clean, working system in case there are issues, like you ran into.

Install Pro Tools again using the new installer and be sure to Right Click it and Run As Administrator.

BTW, what interface are you using? It needs a proper ASIO driver installed, preferably before you install Pro Tools.

Also your record drive needs to be Formatted NTFS and be Basic, not Dynamic.
