You also need a track for the four drum stick clicks to start the song right. Click click click click.

Better record the ckicks in 96Khz because you can tell the difference. Don't forget to use stereo tracks to so you know where in the stereo field the clicks are coming from. Maybe sweep them from left to right. Man we can go on and on.

Let's hear some of your stuff. You can always bounce several tracks to 2 channels and add more without losing anything. It's pretty hard to mix more than 32 tracks at a time so you can do some sub mixes. The Beatles used a 4 track TEAC. A lot of us used 8 channel TASCAM recorders and even 16 and 24 track machines for years and bounced or ping ponged and could get more tracks. But ProTools is so flexible youo can really get as many tracks as you want as long as you know how to mix.

If you have a session you want to send, I'd be willing to help you with your mix.

Just e-mail me.

Good luck.

Mike

I am running a 002R with PTLE7. I am limited to the 32 tracks. I need more tracks. Which other system would be good to look at?
Thanks
No offense intended, but I would seriously like to see what folks would do if given an old 2 inch deck now days to cut tracks on... Seriously... what are you guys recording that you need that many tracks for? If you are doing it just for gear lust, I am not going to tell you how to spend your money, but you can get by easily with 32 tracks with the correct knowledge..

In all honesty.. the sessions for my band actually run close to 32 audio tracks, 5 stereo aux sends and many plug ins..

Yes... there is one track for the cowbell, two for the bongoes, and one for the clave. I think that it would be nice to have more tracks (just in case.. there is a tamborine solo) but REALISTICALLY .. I don't need more, for my particular situation and the music that I do.

I'm really glad that in 1976 when I started to record I only had an 8 channel Tapco mixer a beat up stereo reel to reel, and a tape deck. During the 70's and 80's I recorded with 2,4, 8, 16, 24, tracks and everytime I said man!! it would be nice to have more tracks... but realistically I didn't need them.

Here's an Idea.. lets have a challenge and see who can record a rock band with the least amount of tracks.

Thank God we finally got our 48 track prayers answered.
I get a little tired of the "what do you need more than 32 tracks for" comments.
More is more. "Making do" is never the best thing.
I want (and got, thank you) more tracks so I don't have to worry about submixing (as much).
If I want a castanet that occurs twice on it's OWN track, I can have it there without having to mix it with other various and sundry percussion items onto a stereo track.
I tend to use 20 tracks for drums and percussion. 12 for drums, double tambos, double shakers, guiros, afuches, etc.
I'm known to do 8 part choral vocals.
It'll be nice to still have 20 tracks to mess with after all of that.
I'll gladly shell out the 5 bills for the tool kit.
Sure, I have a few of the plugs already that come with it, but that's why God created eBay.
I can probably sell Sound Replacer, Smack, and DINR for for around $300.00, which will make the purchase sting a bit less.
Thanks Digi. Great news.

.
Good for you man!.. I'm sure that castanet sound really made the song ..... and as I said some people would use a whole track just to have a one note bass drum sound at the end of a song .

But really.... man!!! what a waste...500 bills!!! that can buy a lot of beer

I rather drink and submix.
