Default I've been thinking

It will cost me $7,500 to trade in my new Native card for HDx. Doesn't sound like a good deal. I'd be better of getting the HD1 with 8x8x8 i/o and keeping the Native card and the OMNI for $11,000.

If I have to trade in a card I think a more favorable price is $5,500. Basically I'd be paying full price and losing my native card where I could use on another system.

I think I'm going to stop my order and wait and see how this all shakes out.

Any thoughts.

Carl

I'm not certain anyone can, at this point in time, advise you with certainty. Marketing is a flexible concept, and no one knows how or if Avid’s marketing team will react to the requests for additional consideration they may receive. If you need it now, then act now. If the budget is tight or you are uncertain of your ultimate desires, a prudent position would be to give it some thought first.

Apparently.... My goal over the next few years is to put a killer DAW together and I like the Native HD system I have. Eventually I would like more I/O and a small format mixer.

Being at the AES I was all excited about PT 10 but now when I think about it, the upgrade is a rip off. Maybe, just maybe, Avid can't pull this off.

It's clear that the middle class is getting screwed and they don't even have the HDx system finalized yet. What if sales are too low and folks like WAVES don't port over. The power is only as good as the many plugs you can run on it.

What if its a total flop?

I Agree about the middle class getting screwed. And can anyone say for sure that all the hardware they are dropping support for is going to be 10.x or 11? This is not very clear to me.

Any wise investment takes due diligence, and that takes time. A fool and his money are easily parted in no time at all.

Thanks, I'm pulling the order tomorrow and then I'll check back in January.

Sorry Aivd. Cooler heads prevail.
