Default Newbie question: hardware or software synths?

I am looking for the highest sound quality out-of-box patches and/or loops. Do software or hardware synths have have better quality (or is it a tie)? Is their any advantage to either? Are there any websites that you know of that could be helpful to me?

There's much more, just google.

Which is better? I don't know, really. I own 11 hardware synths/samplers/electric pianos, and about 25 VIs. Crazy, I know, but each of them can do something that the others can't.

Software is "cheaper", if you don't count the ultra fast computer, RAM, sound card, screen, interfaces, hard drives, etc you need to run it. And, you can of course run several VIs on one computer.

It's more fun with hardware, and I trust them. No error messages during a gig. Not yet, anyway.

You need to start your own thread, tdj, this is what some class as thread stealing, but to answer your question, if your using PC hold Alt and click the Breakpoint with the Grabber tool, for Mac I think you hold down Option.

If you want to select Patch Names from Pro Tools make sure that if you decide to get a Hardware Synth, that you can obtain .middev and .midnam and that the Hardware Synth is a fully Multi-Timbral Sound Module. Some have Zones within a Part, some up to 16 Zones per Part and you could have 16 Parts as well. Do lots of research, ask yourself what do I need it for and will this piece of hardware meet my requirements at present.
