Default Must external drives be "dedicated" to PT files?

Just bought a MacBook Pro 2.4 G DP... I want to install PT but I want to save sessions on an external drive. Can I use a drive that has other media files on it or should it be dedicated to storing PT sessions? I have tried saving sessions on other drives that had existing files on them with no luck...What's the best solution?

As long as the drive meets PT's requirements, you can use it for PT sessions and whatever else you like. Not sure why you've had problems in the past, but maybe it just wasn't a PT qualified drive.

In your protools session, open the Workspace and make sure there is the letter R next to the external drive or Protools won't record to it
