PT7.2cs1 Memory Leak?
I am running a pretty complex session with thousands and thousands of regions and edits. Size is about 4Mb for the Pro Tools session document.
The session gets slower and slower after several hours especially when flipping between playlists, and quickly clicking in the Undo History to undo/redo edits to AB different versions of edits on playlists. If I reboot the entire computer it then behaves quickly again but after several hours becomes unbearably slow once again. Is this a symptom of a memory leak? Anyone else seeing this behavior? |

Re: PT7.2cs1 Memory Leak?
Hi Tweakhead,
I'm having a similar issue with pt 7.2 (and release) on XP. Mixing a movie with 6 reels lots of tracks and edits. Just coping fill audio takes about 30 seconds. Maybe it's the same problem? Brandon

Re: PT7.2cs1 Memory Leak?
I had this happen yesterday on a rather large 5.1 mix for a 1hr doc (on Win XP too). I was riding an automation pass for the last 10 seconds of the program and I got this "end of stream" error, a ProTools crash, and the session file was reduced to 1k and would not open again. Dangerous.

Re: PT7.2cs1 Memory Leak?
Thanks for the info guys. I'm sorry (but relieved in a way) that it's happening to you too.
Any input from Digi on this fairly serious matter? |

Re: PT7.2cs1 Memory Leak?
After having done further tests on this problem I started off the day doing a snapshot in Process Viewer of how much memory Pro Tools was using immediately after a reboot and opening my session. After several hours of working I noticed the slowdown happening, and did another snapshot in Process Viewer. The memory consumption (both real and virtual) had increased by about 50% even though my session was actually being slimmed down in the editing process.
After a reboot it reduced once again to the lower level. I particularly notice the slowdown when quickly clicking in the undo window to A/B playlist switches. |
