Default Feedback loop

Hey guys, so I'm running just an mbox to my mac (osx 10.6.8) setting it up as I normally would, main outputs set to my mbox (listening through headphones) and 1 mono input. For some reason it's creating a feedback loop. I've tried all available input and output options but to no avail, can anyone help me out?
