Unless you have PT10HD with accell card(s). Then you get 192 (HD2 or more) or 96 with HD1 of voiced tracks.

For instance.. On PT9, you can have 128 tracks, in PT9HD you can have 512 tracks. So when I open a session with more than 128 tracks in PT9 non HD it starts dropping tracks after 128.

Wondering if these limits have increased with 10.

This is not addressed in that chart.
Unless I'm misreading the list that Chris linked to it does talk in terms of tracks.

Yikes.. HD having 768 and non HD still limited to 128. Kind of a buzz kill for editors like me. This will probably force me to get a toolkit. Damn!
There are lots of places to get PT10HD for way less than the cost of CPTK

The problem is... There are upgrade barriers without associated hardware. CPTK keeps it clean.

Care to enlighten us on those places? We're talking legitimate places right?

Roberts is like a lot of people on here - makes a statement and can't (or won't) provide the evidence to back it up. We shouldn't have to play Sherlock Holmes to figure things like this out.

but you are dealing with protools, that is their whole modus operandi. after all, who else has two different versions of their software? one that is intentionally limited? what is the difference between running your protools HD software without the hardware, and your protools non HD software for editing? (none, really)
do you think when they write the software it is any different? they don't start with protools and then add coding to write the HD parts. they write the software and then add the restrictions for non HD, if I had to guess.
and why don't they advertise the track capture counts? like protools non-HD is still limited to 32 channels. I'm pretty sure that 10 years ago you could capture more than 32 on any other DAW if you had a powerful enough pentium processor.
if you don't want to sherlock holmes your software, get another DAW and sherlock holmes your hardware. every other software manufacturer has been ahead of the hardware for a decade. avid has finally figured out that you can reliably use native processing? maybe that is why they got dropped off the stock exchange.

Default Max track count?

Well beef/PITA you win the "dredge an old thread up" prize for today.

A free copy of Ableton LE, or maybe Studio One x32 (not the pro version the artist, and not the 64bit program the 32)

Prosit
