Artist items or C24 ?

Hi Team,
I am looking to replace my perfectly functional but now crippled (thanks Avid) Control 24. However there are more options and I'm looking for a bit of guidance from you folk who have used the Artist series units.
If you were to buy a control surface now, would you go for a set of Artist modules (I.e transport, control and 2 x mix units) or would you go for a C24?
I'm looking for the best integration with pro tools 12 HD.
I quite like the idea that with the Artist units as it would allow me to sit closer to my Mac monitor screens.
Anyway I would appreciate your thought and experience see, good and bad....

D-Command units can be had for around $3500 and under on eBay. Nothing better than that in this price range

Artist no. S3 very likely yes. C|24 no, not for new build-out and/or you already love them or unless ~free.

I wouldn't get the artist control. Check out the Pro Tools Control app for the iPad - it is free. It does most of what the artist control does. It makes a terrific addition to the artist mix. Artist mix for physical faders/encoders and PT Control App for navigating around the project in Tracks view ( very similar to the S6 tracks view) and for some soft keys.

Also the new Pro Tools dock is coming out around Namm as far as I know. So I would definitely wait to check that out. You can either use the artist mix or the dock to control plugin parameters.
