Default Syncing Pro Tools (2023.6) and Logic (10.7.9) Anyone?

Almost an entire day trying to do this.

If anyone has 'recently' succeeded in syncing Pro Tools and Logic, I'd love to hear from you (an 'A,B,C, 1,2,3..' explanation would be most welcome!)

I've followed various on-line explanations, but all are for previous versions with differing GUI's, and all of them pre AUXI/O and AudioBridge.

Logic 10.7.9 (Slave):
IAC Driver is online
Set to listen for Listen to MMC
Sync is on
Sync Mode set to MTC
Frame Rate = 30

Pro Tools 2023.6 (master)
Midi Device has IAC Driver m Bus 1 selected
Peripherals MTC generator is set to IAC Driver
Session Start is set to 01:00:00:00

Sync is on for both systems.
Sample rate is the same (48kH)

Using a Mac Studio M2 (macOS 13.6.1, Rosetta).

How many dumb things am I doing?

I think session start time must be all zeroes

Thanks Janne... will try that as soon as I get back to the studio.

Nope. No change Janne.
I'm getting sound via Pro Tools Audio Bridge (16).
Just no sync. Nada. Zilch.

NB: Logic Session Start is 01:00:00:00:00
I'm guessing that's what I need to input into Pro Tools Session Start.

Eureka! Well, closer at least, Logic's transport is now activated when I invoke it from Pro Tools. However, Logic's playhead positioning doesn't mirror Pro Tool's. Neither does the return key ⏎. It only reacts to the Space-bar.

Any clues?

Could you simply use Ableton Link? Or do you need tighter lock?

Hi, and thanks.

The plan is to have all analogue and any MIDI based instrumentation on Pro Tools, and use Logic for vocals (yes, there are a lot). I'll need to jump around a lot. I was hoping Logic would be a little more responsive to that.

Since my last post, I've seen that Logic does indeed start from wherever I place the playhead in Pro Tools (good), but not until I press Space-bar in Pro Tools. The Enter key still has no effect (annoying, but not a deal-breaker).

I tried to synchronize PT and Logic via Ableton Link, the synchronization works in principle, tempo and start/stop are transmitted in both directions, but no song position is transmitted. Did I miss something ?

Just for fun I tried this myself.

Here are the changes I made on Logic.

- Settings / MIDI / Sync: MTC Pickup Delay: 3 frames
- Project Settings / Synchronization: Sync Mode: MTC
- Project Settings / Audio: Core Audio: External or Free
- Project Settings / MIDI: Transmit MMC, check

Here are the changes I made on PT:

- Setup / MIDI / MIDI Input Enable: IAC Driver, check
- Setup / MIDI / MIDI Beat Clock: IAC Driver, check
- Setup / MIDI / MIDI Input Filter: Record All
- Setup / MIDI / MIDI Input Filter / Channel Info: uncheck Notes, Pitch Bend, Mono Aftertouch
- Setup / MIDI / MIDI Input Filter / Controllers: uncheck all
- Setup / Peripherals / Synchronization: MTC Reader and Generator: MTC Generator Port: IAC Driver
- Setup / Peripherals / Machine Control: MMC Remote, check, ID zero
- Setup / Peripherals / MIDI: MIDI Beat Clock, check
- Setup / Peripherals / MIDI: MIDI Notes and Controllers, uncheck

I'm on Sonoma beta release so this sometimes works and sometimes not. wonder why.
