Default DSP not available...can someone help me?

I'm running TDM 6.4.1 on a D24, 2 Mix Farms, and a DSP Farm on a G4 1.25 GHz with 512 megs of ram. I just installed a new hard drive so that I could keep my OS's seperate, and installed 6.4.1 on it with a fresh copy of Panther 10.3.8.

All of a sudden, anytime I try to use a TDM plugin, I get an error message saying I don't have the available DSP. I've run this system for a long time, and have always had plenty of DSP, so this really doesn't make sense.

Anyone have any ideas what might be happening? Thanks in advance!!

in your hardware setup, make sure you have enough CPU allocated. Sounds like a CPU RTAS error. Could be tdm based but if this is a new PT install then the default CPU usage might be set too low for your particular session.

He said "TDM plugin". That doesn't have anything to do with it. Are you sure there are enough of that type of chip free to run that TDM plug? Do other plugs (like EQ II) give the same message?

The plug I was trying to use was the BF76 plug, which usually works great. I also tried an eqII which gave me the same message. I did have to unplug my interfaces from the computer to put some ram inside. As it is, the card order is:

Mix Farm
Mix Farm
D24
DSP Farm

The first 2 interfaces are connected to Mix Farm 1, and the other interface is connected to Mix Farm 2. Does that sound right to you guys?

I don't know how to check the DSP usage in Pro Tools, so I have no way of knowing exactly what's happening there. Can you tell me how to find that out?

Thanks for the help!!

I suggest you open the System Usage window in the Windows menu and actually look at how your DSP is being allocated. You may still have some DSP left, but you've used up all the ship types required for the new plug-in type.

Have you run DigiTest?

some "tdm" plugs are actually Htdm which is rtas type of memory, so this can be confusing. i don't knwo which are which but it may behoove you to check that detail.
