Default USB, PTools LE8!

Hello, i know this topic is talked about a lot.
After trying everything i could to get my laptop to run my OWC ext harddrive and a Digi 003 through the same firewire card bus i am using USB now.

The FW card TI chipset will not usually run the 2 FW devices either daisy chained or together out of the same FW card.

So USB works fine, starts up and operates every time.
USB with the OWC, and FW400 with the Digi 003.

Am only doing small sessions, maybe 4 tracks with basic plugins for demo recordings.
Will need to upgrade my system for pro recordings, but working fine now.

Has anyone used USB for the ext HD with success.
cheers.

Yes. Although not supported, I have never had an issue using my USB 2.0 external drives.

I have a 1TB WD @7200 RPM that is NOT bus powered for stationary use, and a Seagate 500 GB @7200 RPM bus powered for mobile use.

My sessions are typically not too large either, 24 to 30 audio and or instrument tracks, and half a dozen aux tracks or so. I am usually pretty frugal with the plug ins, but still, not had any issues other than the stoopid mistrakes most all of us make at one time or another...whether we tell about em or not

Hello, yes, i ran about 8 tracks and loaded them with heavy plugins, reverb, delays, compression, and all worked fine.
Think it will be ok for demo projects.

Would really step up to FW for any pro recordings though.
