Avid Link updated... PT 2023.9 on its way?

Might we see 2023.9 next week? This update was issued now in order to accommodate Sketch, but we often see Link updated just prior to a new release of PT. There are a couple of important bug fixes that are (reportedly) fixed in this upcoming version so I'm anxious to get going with it.

I'm anxious about whether or not PT 2023.9 will bring with it the same changes that MC 2023.8 has. MC users were given a 30 day warning to download any previous version of Media Composer. From the 30th Sept, the only version of Media Composer that Avid will be offering for download online is the current release.

My money is on yes -- PT will follow suit. I tend to save the most recent two or three installers anyway but don't love that Avid is doing this.

WTH. Unacceptable with software that has serious bugs with every release.

Well if you can't get an installer to use... you won't be able to complain about bugs. It's rather brilliant, I mean what else could Avid do... actually focus on fixing bugs? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You mean the old ones are removed from Avid Download Center? Somehow I doubt that...

Oh yeah, that will happen. Hey. AT least they gave you warning. I suspect AVID will have a "process" to get access to earlier versions.

I've kept a large amount of MAC installers since 2013. Not every release but a majority of the 2020-2023 releases.
Since you can install multiple versions now, it just made sense to keep them.

I think Media Composer probably out ranks PT by 3 to 1. Correct me if I am wrong.

If there is only one option for download, it is pushing users to move to the latest version which is usually skipping versions.
I skipped 2 years before I updated.

This is a poor move from AVID. Download ALL available installers now.

Remember there is "new management".
