Jeepers, still with the fantasy that an audio / video company will buy Avid!

Well that said, apparently Francisco Partners are interested. It’s an investment company, but they did buy Native Instruments and iZotope, so happy days, eh? Pretty good article at Pro Tools Expert - https://www.production-expert.com/pr...ured-avid-sale

There was a time when I thought a sale might be advantageous, but in recent times, I remind myself... Be careful what you wish for.

I'm at this point where I'm willing to take the risk.
A Company that will focus on Audio and to fix all the Bugs in Pro Tools is a must.
I'm coming upto 4 Years wait for a fix for bug PT-263050
(4 Years since I came across it anyway)

Avid needs a complete remodel and should focus far more on Audio, there's a lot that needs to be done, from bugs to the interfaces needing to be re-priced, a focus on the home professional rather than yesterdays world to mention but a few.

If there's one thing that I think we can take away from these private equity acquisitions, its that they are rarely customer focused or beneficial to the end-user.

It looks like Avid found a buyer:

Avid Technology Enters into Definitive Agreement to Be Acquired by an Affiliate of STG for $1.4 Billion

Best,

For what it's worth they now can make feature announcements or give a out a road map without being sued by shareholders if they don't release the update in time. We might actually know what to expect for our subscriptions or update plans.

Barbarians at the gate? Maybe someone who cares about the product can buy it for peanuts after the looters get bored. Or is even that too optimistic?

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. Just because they can doesn't mean they will.
