Default Plugin folder (re-install question)

just had to do a full re-install earlier today.

prior to this re-install, i kept having issues with my "plug in" folder disappearing from the Digi folder. all plugs continued to work but i could never figure out why the plugs folder would appear and then disappear on a frequent basis.

so today i did my re-install, and now i've just noticed that my plugin folder is merely an "alias" pointing to the actual folder. earlier it was a set folder. should i not just have a set/standard plug-in folder that doesn't move?

am i missing something?
