Default 5.0 to stereo downmixer

Trying to downmix a 5.0 track to stereo but it looks like the stock Avid downmixer doesn't work on 5.0 channels in 12.6.1.

Has it always been this way? Doesn't seem to work in Quad or 7.0 either.

Not in front of PT right now, but you could easily fake a silent LFE channel to feed the downmixer, right? Some algorithms drop the LFE altogether, so this should work well.

This is what I have to do. I'll take my 5.0 DX stem, split it to mono, add an empty audio track underneath, create a 5.1 audio track underneath that. Copy the 5.0+1 to the new 5.1 audio track, then down-mix "5.1" to stereo.

Wish it just worked, though.

Why not just create a 5.1 path with a 5.0 subpath, send audio to the subpath and put the plug on the 5.1 path?

It's just kind of annoying as I don't want to be forced to create 5.1 stems when a 5.0 is all that is needed. Making 5.0 sub-busses of the 5.1 busses doesn't seem to work. You can go from a 5.0 audio track to a 5.1 buss but not the other way around.
