Purchase a MIDI Controller with a build-in MIDI Interface (USB) or if you have a MIDI Controller buy a MIDI Interface for DIN connectivity or manually insert event data using the Pro Tools Pencil tool.

Personally I'd either go M-Audio Axiom Pro or M-Audio Oxygen. These are MIDI Controllers and Control Surfaces in one.

If you gonna to record drum beats you may interest controller with PADS (http://www.m-audio.com/images/global...mPro49-top.jpg) or dedicated Drum Pad controller (http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=414)
