Default 11R and Roland Octa Capture

I currently only have the 11R for recording into PTLE.
I now require further inputs for more instruments/mics etc.
I am currently looking at the Roland Octa Capture.
Can anyone offer advice please?

Will this work alongside the 11R?
Will I see it in PTLE?
Can I plug the 11R into it and use the Roland as main unit, or do they have to run in parallel.
Are there other units better or compatible to consider?
Totally confused, as the guy in the shop tells me I should need to crossgrade to PT10.
Any advice would be great
Regards

You should be fine using the Roland as your main interface, and you have plenty of options for connecting your 11r. I just bought a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 and hooked up the 11r via SPDIF, so I still have all 8 mic Pres available on the saffire if I need them. That's what I'd suggest doing with the Roland, if you get it.

FYI, you might want to look into the Saffire Pro 40. Plenty of I/O, it runs over FireWire instead of USB, and it's $200 cheaper. (My 2¢ worth).

Mate,
Awesome quick reply, thanks!!
I did actually go to look at the Saffire but he steered me to the new Roland ;-)
And this will work in PT LE rather than need to crossgrade?

Regards

No. CoreAudio and ASIO are supported with Pro Tools 9 and higher.

Bloody hell AVID, how restrictive are you??

This doesn't sell gear FFS!!!!!

Flexibility and integration sells gear.

In fact for almost 20 years Pro Tools has been that way, only recently has Pro Tools been less restrictive.

My bad...I didn't notice your version # in your sig...when I bought my 11R, it came with a free upgrade to PT10. Sorry. You can probably find a license on the cheap here on the duc or ebay.
