Soundblaster 16 & ProToolsFree locks up

Of course I know you are all laughing at the SB16 but there is a reason. I have a GadgetLabs 824 at home and a SB16 in my PC a work. I figured that by installing PTFree at work too I could fool around and learn PT better on my lunch hour. Anyway, when I try to launch PTFree it hangs on the "Scanning Program Memory". Any ideas?
