Default RAM Timings

Does anyone know what manual memory timings I can try based on my RAM and Processor? The Sandra Report is listed below. It's something I'd like to try but don't want to risk inputting wrong settings. I've tried many forums and the manufacturers website has limited info regarding this. I'd really appreciate some help on this. Specifics would be great. Thanks in advance

Pro Tools v9.0.3

9-9-9-24 are the numbers you should use(but double-check with the RAM manufacturer and make sure those are correct for your exact RAM sticks). Refer to the motherboard manual for info on how to set those in BIOS. Also, make sure(if you have 4 slots for RAM) that you are using the correct pair of slots for 2 sticks(or your dual-channel RAM may not operate correctly).

Thanks for the reply Albee. I've checked with Corsair and yes, they're the correct numbers. They're also the numbers that actually appear next to the setting fields anyway. Yes, they're in the correct slots. Ok so my timings are set to manual, no ADC, no plug-ins, fully optimized as per the Avid Troubleshooting guide. Not one bit of improvement. To tell you the truth, I can live with the initial CPU error. It only happens when I hit play on a newly opened session. After that it doesn't do it again until I open another session. If I have my System Usage window open when I launch a session, the CPU RTAS reading jumps all over the place and goes red momentarily on and off. It keeps doing this until I hit play. The CPU error displays, I click OK and then it all stablizes beautifully.

What I'm finding unacceptable is the "glitch" I'm getting when I hit record. It's really annoying and I shouldn't need to apologise to my clients every 5 minutes for this. This glitch happens regardless of whether I use the control surface transport or the GUI transport. It happens with both Quick Punch and Pre Roll mode. I've been using Pro Tools since v6 and every other version/update/patch up to and including v8 on far lesser machines and have never had this issue. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem but I'd sure like to know.

But again, I really appreciate the advice from fellow forum members. I reckon Avid have a hide like a rhino charging for tech support.

make sure you do not have 'use all available space' checked in your prefs...that could result in hesitation/glitch at the start of playback. set it to cover your session time...10 mins or whatever your number may be. also PT9 has a bug that causes pops/clicks when usin' quick punch...regardless of how you implement it...pre-roll/post-roll or not.

Thanks. I've set the preference as per your suggestion but alas...no change. I'm tipping PT9 has bugs. The day they fix the glitch I'm referring to, I'll be a very happy man. I'm not new to PT and am convinced that my brand new purpose built PC is working fine. I suppose I'll just have to hope that a fix comes out sooner rather than later. Cheers.

Yep. Many of us have been putting up with the punch-pops bug ever since upgrading to 9. Nothing for it but to put up with it until it gets fixed.
