ProTools LE works great for me. Why don't you sell your Digi hardware? You can get better interfaces for less money.

Pro Tools LE works great for me too.

Seems like an expensive way to find out that you're not computer savvy...

You are recording to a USB drive, and USB is not fast enought to handle many tracks.

Sorry you had so many problems running PTLE, however, it appears you didn't do your homework.

There are probably half a dozen things wrong with your system that could have been corrected if you had just asked instead of posted this here.

Good luck with Cubase.

I used Cubase from '97 through February of this year. The problems I had with that system (through three different machines) were far beyond what I've experienced with PTLE in the recent 10 months. And Steinberg support? Puh-lease.

Your blind reliance in that product as being your savior will ending up severely bumming you out. I understand your frustration in working within Digi's "approved list." It bothered me for awhile too because it sometimes smacks of conspiracy since most of the pieces on that list cost significantly more than other bargain pieces. I had to wonder for about 30 seconds if Digi was in league with them just to get ProTools devotees to clamor for those products too.

But... look at the list of approved sound cards, audio and MIDI devices on the Steinberg site. I can tell you from personal experience that Cubase crashes or at least functions horribly with MANY of those listed as compatible. In the end, I'd rather have a small list of things that really work instead of a huge list of things that don't, simply to make Cubase seem like a more user-friendly product.

On the other hand, my laptop isn't one of the recommended laptops, and it still works great because it has the specs of the recommended ones.

Here's the bottom line. All digital audio is not created equally. I would never have given up Cubase after investing all of that time in it unless there was a significant audio-quality benefit. All I had to do was listen to recordings of the same drum kit done on my Cubase system and a friend's PT system. That did it.

Do an 8-track recording and mix it down on a ProTools (yes LE) and the same on Cubase and listen. If your ears don't hear a difference, then you and Cubase were meant for each other.

Sorry to go on and on, but I want to convey that there really is a difference, and planning & patience will go a long way for those of us without the extra dough for TDM systems (and even then patience is still a virtue ).

not only is that not true (usb2), but if it were, PT would not allow you to record to it at all.

Just look at the signs a jump from 6.1 to 6.4 to 6.7 unless there is some hidden thing most revision numbering doesnt skip like that unless there are allot of upgrades HMMMMM!!!!
That's the incorrect conclusion to draw. ProTools is cross-platform (mac, windows, LE, HD), and probably all on a single 'source base'. The version jumping, just by observing the versions released for Windows, ignores other versions for new HD cards, OS X Panther, 002 R, some of which didn't require a new release for LE on Windows.
