Export PARTS of a recording as new session: possible?
Sorry, kind of stupid and stuck:
3 hour live multitrack recording. I put markers at the beginning and end of the 4 songs, that should be kept for later editing/mixing. Already have done some basic editing to these 4 songs (fader automation, plugins, aux-routing to effects etc.). I do want to keep the original session intact, so I am looking for a way to do the following for each of the 4 songs individually: - select only ONE song (between the markers) - export the selected region as a new session including all of the basic editing done so far - and: only export the required part of the audio into the new session and not end up exporting 3 hours of multitrack-audio each time for each song (strip unnecessary audio, so to say, during each individual export of each song) - select the NEXT song and export as another new session as described above. Later on, I can load each "song-session" and finish it individually. As I said: just stupid and stuck and not getting it done - any help is most appreciated! |

Re: Export PARTS of a recording as new session: possible?
I've done it a couple times, and I simply used Save As, and named each new session appropriately. So, all sessions referenced the same audio files.
You can then cut what you don't need, and do a Save Copy In for backups, etc.

Re: Export PARTS of a recording as new session: possible?
Good idea - as long as I stay on my computer. Any idea, when I want to pass the songs on to others to work on them? That's how I came up with the "export session" idea, because it contains all my initial project information, but just the needed (small -audio- parts of the) files...
If I could just select any part between to markers and then "export to session" without any huge steps in between would make my life so much easier ;-) Last edited by dvdr; 07-11-2018 at 04:53 AM. |

Re: Export PARTS of a recording as new session: possible?
Use Save As > cut/trim as needed > Save Copy In. It's not so complicated as it sounds, and with Save Copy In, PT generates new files, so PT no longer reference the original session files.

Naturally, you need to check which items to copy.
