CD Architect and XP
Hello,
I am thinking about upgrading to WinXP (now I am running 98 SE) but I want to be able to keep running CD Architect... Anybody running XP and CD Architect??? Thank you in advance. Camilo.

Re: CD Architect and XP
Sound Forge 5 (and 6 too, I THINK) are not compatable with CD Architect, while 4 and 4.5 are a maximum of 16 bits. So for mastering 24 bit mixes, you have to have 5 0r 6. To burn in CD Architect, you need 4 or 4.5. That is, unless you're running CDA in stand alone mode. But in any event, CDA in Windows XP has been problematic. It runs fine, but it doesn't "see" the burners.
Sonic Foundry's "solution" was to add CDA features to Vegas Video 3 - a MULTITRACK program. They said they couldn't add it or support it in Sound Forge 5 and 6 for "technical reasons". Yeah right... Anyway, to me, it makes more sense to have this capability in your 2 track mastering / editing program... not in your multitrack. There's instructions on the Sonic Foundry's user's forum on how to get CDA working with WIN XP. I've tried it a few times... and even managed to get it to work on one installation. But not always. It runs, but it doesn't "see" your burner. The BEST solution I've heard of is to use CDA as normal under WIN XP - EXCEPT you use a utility to burn the CD Architect project file to CD. This utility, written by Colin Hill and called CDP Burn, recognises a LOT more burners than CDA does... and supports more of the modern burner features, such a burnproof technology. You can get this utility FOR FREE at: http://www.projecteva.net/ It works great, and it's free. What more could you want?

Re: CD Architect and XP
I am currently running CD Architect in Wondows XP. I don't burn from CDA though. I just use CDA to do the layout and then I use Vegas Video 3 to open the CDA file and burn it using Disc At Once Audio CD.
Hope this helps.
