Waves seem to be doing doing pretty well

To be fair, the SSL collection is a good few years old so they have surely recouped their investment and some. By making such an offer they get plenty of people to bite who aren't already SSL owners and future customers for upgrades, WUP and such.

I think they're just changing their business model to fit the business.

I remember buying Waves plugs when they first came out and they were very expensive. This was back in maybe 1998ish.

These days there are lots of smaller developers undercutting companies like Waves, UA, etc.... I think Waves is going after volume instead of higher dollar plugins these days.

Be aware this sale is only for 24 hours from when it was first announced this morning (Wednesday). This according to the Waves site. As I write this it's got 18 hours and 29 minutes to go. That would make it 7AM Eastern US time on Thursday (tomorrow) morning.

Btw, mail from Waves for existing users:

"We have introduced some changes to the SSL 4000 Collection licenses.
This will not affect your setup, your existing sessions/projects, or your installed plugins.

To update your SSL 4000 Collection license, follow these steps:
Launch Waves Central.
(If your license for the SSL 4000 Collection, or for another bundle containing the SSL plugins, is activated to a USB device, connect it first to your computer.)

Log into your account and allow Waves Central to sync.

Your license will now be updated."

Also, E&G Channel plugins will be updated.
