Of course they had to leave it out to keep the latency down, since this is basically a live sound plug.

Also, I'd recommend you wait to see what else might be released in this category in the near future.

$29? Waves is racing other companies to the bottom!!
What category are you talking about - eq, dynamic eq or?

Sure no spectrum is an omission but a serious one? Don't know about that considering a lot of spectrum displays built into an eq aren't all that accurate. As a rough indicator they're okay. What I'd really like to see for a spectrum display is a switch to select display before or after eq. Like input and output metering on a compressor. At least one gets to see how the signal is reacting to the settings. Not a spectrum display as such but still useful.

As to price these recent things from Waves is strange. Anybody know anything about their financials?

This is what I'm curious about, this would be hard to be better than the HOFA

This!

(unless, that is, you have decided to not re-wup until waves releases aax-dsp...)

This happens periodically. It gets too expensive to support older OSes so devs end up having to drop them eventually. Otherwise we'd be paying more. At $29 that's not an unreasonable request except I'm pretty sure that's just a no brainer introductory offer. I wouldn't be surprised if we see this thing be priced around the same as the C6 ultimately.

So no I don't think it's a race to the bottom. I think they are trying to get as many people onboard before V10 drops. However, I'm not sure why. Perhaps they want them on the mail list so they can tantalise with new V10 additions. But I'm guessing there.

Actually the more accurate they are, the more processor intensive and added latency. So it would be hard to incorporate one and keep it light.

Agreed. Which is why I run a spectrum analyzer plugin separate from an eq - I have it when I need it and can dismiss it when I don't. And this brings up an interesting point - with those eq plugins that have the ability to show a spectrum or not does that code run all the time? Or does that code only run when the actual spectrum is being displayed? That would affect cpu usage.
