Hey, thanks for pointing this out! I started a new thread with this in mind. Thank-you.

I worked on my system today with a client who owns an Icon. He was blown away by how fast I could work using the Matrix section on the Pro Control.

He was asking me why it got removed on subsequent control surfaces from Digidesign/Avid.

I was unable to provide an answer.

Because for anyone who uses a variety of surfaces, the ProControl was horribly unintuitive, and came with monstrous problems when trying to work in surround.

At a trade show recently I happened upon the Studer stand, and had a play with a Vista. My god, what an intuitive surface! Without having even seen one before I was able to achieve quite complex tasks within a few minutes, with no guidance from the Studer reps.

Console design has moved on. PC was left behind because enough people hated it as much as some people love it.

A Pro Control is simple enough to use. Yes of course there's newer/better surfaces but the Pro Control and the Control|24 are still getting the job done for lots of folks.
Why kill it at a time when the company needs everyone to upgrade the software?
Not a good time for Avid to be alienating customers.
Leave the code in there unsupported.
It really is a one finger salute.

I don't do surround, for Audio, the pro control is amazing!

...snip
Huh? The Pro Control matrix section has absolutely nothing to do with surround functions.

I never said it did. However the way the talk back mic shared a path with the centre channel made 5.1 working challenging which is a shame considering.
