I'm on PT12HD as well and though there's no real difference in performance I find it more stable than PT11HD (whatever version, including the latest). So feature & performance wise = pretty much the same. Stability though has "been improved" at least on my system. That's what I can say here from my usage of the SW so far.

Ill add my 2 cents... We had to skip 11 due to video audio post issues...

So I took a plunge with just a single PT12 HDX1 system with a Digigrid DLS DSP serever. New Mac Pro tower w 8Core.

PT works very well... extremely stable... no issues as with 11.

We ran over 275 Native plugins with hundreds of tracks and it was still blasting through the data like it was drinking water... We managed to finally get it to break using over 300 decently CPU hungry plugins

Its finally time to upgrade! Thank you Avid.

Thanks for chiming in.

This is what I tried to get through with this thread. PT 12 has performed very well for me, and I'm glad to hear it does so for others too.

I welcome new features as much as everyone else, but stability is the single most important thing.

For us, we just needed to tools to work correctly... and with PT 12.0 they do.

That is all I ever ask of a company is that their product work as it has been advertised to do....

People who are bummed about track freeze and so forth... I understand that is a frustration but the other tools you get w PT are well above the standard stuff you get w others... Its a balance for me... If I need to use a lot of MIDI I just rewire it into PT and use track freeze on another program...

The bottom line is as you stated... The reliablity and stability are there, now I hope they dont go any break it trying to add things like track freeze

Just so I'm clear - if there are no new features (yet) in ProTools 12, what are the bugfixes and other improvements that make it worth the upgrade?

Not a loaded question - I'd love to upgrade to PTHD 12, and would happily do so for improved CPU efficiency, better stability etc. but I'm seeing no information on what's changed, just the odd anecdotal comment that it "runs really well".

Can anyone using it shed some more light ...?

Here's a TANTALIZING glimpse into the table of contents of the 'What's New' document for PT12. Just look at that!

And for that people are paying good money? Is this what they call in the financial world a 'sinking fund'?
