Default looking for digi002R pwr harness replacement

HI,
I'm having trouble with my 002R.
Does not connect in PT10. FW rear light blinks or goes out. Front FW light goes out...
Do you think this is the harness problem?
My SN is after what avid published, but I think it may be the harness.

Q: where can I order a replacement harness?

thanks to all
brad

+1 for re-seating connections(pull and re-seat each connector 5-6 times). If that fails, find an authorized Avid repair facility(like AllPro Electronics in Nashville). Or call some of the larger Avid dealers like Parsons Audio(Wellsley, MA) or Dale Pro Audio in NYC.

Unplug it from power, open up the top, and disconnect the white slide-on power harness connector. Use 99% Isopropyl and some Q-tips to wipe off the contacts. You might even want to look for the white multi-pin connector that's attached to the same power supply (at least it is in the full mixer version) and clean that off as well. I have the 002 Mixer and I literally have to do this every 6 months since I've owned the thing. I even had it all warranty repaired, but it still requires it or else, just about clockwork, it loses connected when things get oxidized every 6 months or so. I've done this for 002R users a buncha times too. Works like a charm. Only permanent solution is to cut off the connectors and hard solder them on, which I have actually done with one of them, but I still have to clean off the multi-pin connector every 6 months. (now that I think about it, the multi-pin probably feeds the faders, so you might not see it in the rack version) Good luck.

thanks guys!!!
So I popped the top. All ribbon connectors are hot glued in. Power harness is not. Reseated a bunch. The one on the side does come out pretty easy (lock doesnt seem to work too good) made sure all were fully in and locked. No Go... the rear FW LED lights continuous, but the front 1394(?) LED does not light. Tried a bunch of times reseating... bummer! I did wiggle and confirm all ribbons were connected well. Did my "wiggle, poke with plastic pen" a bunch of components, maybe find something intermittent. No go...
So, do you think its worth while to order a new harness from what iv told you?
Guess I think that it may be something a bit more "failed" in the component department. But look forward to your reply.
thanks so much, all the best!

Ya know dr, when I looked at the contacts, they did seem a bit white. I think I'll try your fix tomorrow! I have some 256(?) de oxidation spray I can try.. It's supposed to clean and leave a conductive film that protects contacts from oxidation... So that's it, the oxidation that creates enough resistance to prevent enough current?

thanks!!

Thumbs up Re: looking for digi002R pwr harness replacement

I own the Digi 002R. The harness issue doesn't go away with cleaning and reseating some of the contacts. Been fooling around with this problem for a couple of years. I finally found a company in California and ordered a harness replacement for about $30. Some 002R harnesses become unseated with a certain serial numbers. Call them and they will give more detail.

Just soak the harness connectors in alcohol for a while, it will renew the connectors which are sadly made too cheap. Cheap fix. If you're really unlucky, you need to renew the "motherboard" connectors too.

Many moons ago I had the infamous power harness issue with an old 002R. I sent a request to Avid and they sent me a new one for free. It was a known defect that they were required to repair. Very easy to replace.
