I'll take it off your hands! ;-) And don't use the contact cleaner that leaves a conductive film.....that can cause a short between contact pins that are supposed to never touch! You could also try sliiiightly bending the pins that the white connector snaps onto so that they make better contact (but careful not the break them.)

I know your pain, I also used 002r in front of live audience for about 3 years. It's a great box and the harness is its only weak link.

So, although I cannot recommend this procedure unless you have experience, the problem can be 100% avoided by SOLDERING the cables to the connectors. It will make changing motherboard harder, but for boxes that are +10 years old who cares

Hey J,
ya, Ive had this 002r since about 2001. Used it with PT7 and Powerbook g4 for a LONG time. It was ROCK SOLID. (until i bought PT10 and macbook pro). I dont trust the system like i used to. Too bad.
You guys have me thinking either to try a new harness OR just solder the connectors. I'll prob. unload it, so maybe it would better to swap out the harness. But then there's always the possibility that it's not the harness. Which I tend to think..
thanks!

Hi,

Don't lose heart, I also was terrified when the rock solid box became sick. But the remedy is really rather simple; if you use it live, solder the wires and you can forget about this all. When the harness goes down, the whole box begins to behave weirdly. Re-seat the harness and it is all good again. But you can avoid every single trouble if you solder the wires and bypass the cheapo connectors.

As an update, I received the replacement harness, popped it in and so far so good. Bottom line, I would rather spend $35 on a repair than much more for a replacement.
Peace.

Great.

Just don't get rid of the old harness, it's not broken. As I said earlier, soak the metal connectors in alcohol (whatever winterproof windscreen wiper ethanol you have) and it will come back alive (for a while that is).

Permanent solution would be soldering the wires, but if you don't feel confident it's good to have a spare harness available.
