Default Tinnitus sound FX

I have been wondering how to make this one for awhile now. I am trying to make a Tinnitus sound effect. IE a explosion close by causes brief loss of hearing then ears ring.

Check out the end of Fight Club, the exact same thing happens there - just a high frequency ringing.

You'll probably get different opinions from everyone you ask, as the ringing in everybody's ears is going to be at different frequencies.

a great example is "Cop Land' w/ Stalone. A gun goes off in his ear and the last ten minutes oof his POV is that ringing sound. I've made similar ringing sounds like metallic pings and what not using reason.

Also- heavily filtered bg effects can be really helpful- check out the scene in "Saving Private Ryan" when Tom Hanks (Capt Miller) loses his hearing-

To make the ringing, try combining two enharmonic pure (sine wave) high frequency tones together.

Maybe try the "wet-finger-on-wineglass" thing. The irregularities in your finger motion might impart a nice creepiness. Or maybe even do 2 of them at slightly different pitches (for that quease-causing rub).
