Default Dual 17\" or 19\" Monitors? Is Bigger Better?

I'm currently running 2 15" LCD monitors. While I can get 24 tracks across by narrowing
the mix window on monitor 2, the plugins are fairly large and I'm always mousing around a lot.
I'm torn between 17" or 19" for my next move. I would like to be able to view more tracks
horizontally, and keep my scrolling to a minimum. This would surely be more productive,
but I also don't want the text so small I need a telescope to read it.
Please all mighty DUC, just dare me to spend 1K on huge monitors, I'm just crazy enough
to do it...Should I? Would 19" monitors mean I'll have major "Dead" space at either the top
or bottom of my mix window?

Thanks,
Adrian

most 17" and 19" LCD monitors can only support a max resultion of 1280x1024. the resolution determins how much you can fit accross the screen, a 19" will simply mean everything looks larger
check out doc's duel 21" wide screan monitors

I have a 19 and love it!!
If you get 2 get identical for a nicer dual monitor experience.

I have a pair of Nec Multisync 19" lcd's and a third 15" nec (until I can buy another bigger one)

The answer to your question - 19" is better - unless you have the scrilla for those 21" puppies mentioned above and the Apple 23" or 30" cinema displays are superbulous. If you have cash to spend there's also the Samsung SyncMasters 21" or 24" with a max resolution of 1600 x 1200 and 1920 x 1200 respectively - There's some real estate for you...

I bought the 20.1" wide aspect dell's and love them. Well worth the investment for the real estate.

Makes life so much easier in Pro Tools and other apps for that.

IntelDoc's setup looks pretty sweet, but the monitors look a little small!

I think I'd prefer one of these new monitors from Dell for $1199. Coming early March!
