Default Smack!

Hi gang..

I downloaded the demo of Digidesign's 'Smack!' compressor. Only had a quick listen to it today, but it seemed to be similar in style to a Distressor, and when trying out some of it's more extreme characteristics, thought it sounded quite brutal, ala the Distressor. Looking forward to putting it through its paces over the next few days. I whacked it on a guide vocal at the end of the session today and it was quite pleasing, in a coloured compressor type way, which is what i prefer in a compressor. Keen to hear if anyone else has any thoughts..

Plus, there's an LE version, so we don't have to buy the HD version!!

MC

I've been using it off and on for about a week. It has been causing trouble in some of my larger sessions; eating up resources.

I still like it though; smooth and warm, easy to use. Works really well processing wavs AS style.

I am glad that people are talking about this one ... I am interested as well and interested in the opinions of DUCkies. What is the consensus on this plug? Worth ponying up the scratch or is it "just another compressosr" if you have the Waves Gold bundle?

I think I really like it. It seems to fill out the vocal very nicely. I'm still playing with it to be sure because I have a lot of compressors and I don't need to blow 395$ for another.
