Default Editing of a HD session on LE

Recording on HD @ 88,1kHz

Editing on LE @ 44,1kHz
(which makes a samplerate conversion necessary, of course)
The edits contain only region trims, no destructive audio editing.

Now I want to mix on HD @ 88,1kHz again.
Is there a way to use the original 88,1kHz session and import the changed region definitions from the 44,1kHz session?

Never tried, so just guessing, but:
Maybe try import session data for the tracks that have edits- include import audio for those tracks and have PT do sample rate conversion on them.
If there are a high proportion of tracks you did these edits on you will have to consider whether any benefits from mixing at 88k will be offset by potential loss of fidelity that might result from sample rate conversion on the edited tracks.

As to importing JUST the region definitions maybe someone else will have an idea, but the challenge of placing region definition on a file that is not the original file (the 44.1 files are new and different files) might require some special file editor, if it can be done at all.

How many files are we talking about? If they have the same names and durations, you open the 44.1k session in HD, converting to 88.2, and then toss the converted media and force relink the session to your original 88.2 media.

This is only practical if you have a limited amount of media, or a rather patient assistant.

This is the way to go if you need to do it. I worked on a project where we recorded at 88.2, the artist did her own vocal comping at 44.1 on an LE rig and then we imported her comps back into the original session, forcing a relink to the original files after trashing the newly upsampled files. Relinking could get pretty tedious, but if it's only a few files per tune it's not bad.

Thank you for help!
I think Dzerdzinsky and StudioRhythm got the point.

DIGI: Any comment how to simplify this? (Because I have a lot of files - I want to keep the best quality without spending too many clicks in the relink window which paralyzes my wrist)

Thanks again - tried it today.
It works and it works not.

All files linked back to their originals.
In my small test session there are only 6 edits on a 3 track piano recording. 6 edits with simple crossfades.
One single edit keeps correct - all others become corrupted: wrong region definitions…

Very weak software programming!!

It's very frustrating to realize this:

Pro Tools software development is dominated by "profit only minds".
No more pioneering spirit - SAD!

A) get an LE rig that can handle 88.2

Or

B) don't work at 88.2

I'd go with option 'A'

That would be my suggestion as well, now that the newer Mboxes can handle it(AFAIK).
