Default Who here would love ProTools to accept mp2\'s?

Is there anybody out there who would love Pro Tools to recognize mp2 files like me? I'm using a compact flash recorder from Marantz (The PMD 670) that's pretty remarkable, however, due to my need for long recording sessions I have to record all my sound as Mp2's to fit on a flash card. Before I import these files into a pro tools session I have to convert the mp2 files into Aiff files. It's a pain to do it this way and I always fear of audio loss. Eventhough it is all digital there has to be some degradation going on between conversions. It would be nice if Pro Tools accepted mp2's. Is it worth getting a petition going to convince the Digidesign programmers to add this feature, especially since it seems like Flash Card Field Recorders are the up and coming new guard of field recording equipment?

SoundApp, a freeware sample format converter would be a good alternative. It can convert to dual mono so it's perfect for importing files into protools. It uses playlists too so you can convert CD tracks, mp3s, mp2s, Aiff files... any format besides Windows Media Audio or Real Audio all in one go.

Hope this helps

ME I would till love this option even thought has been a while you posted this question. I sure is a good thing! nowadays with DAB radio my radio station transforms all audio into MP2. It would be great to be able to edit in MP2 format.
