its possible to run Protool 5 and 6 on the same...
Hello, I have a protool 5.1.1 in the studio that I work and we are thinking about goin to protool 6, as we all know, none of the plug ins will work with Pt6 and the studio its not really happy about that, but we were thinking about getting the MacOS 9.2 into a external Harddrive and install the Protool 5 there while we have the PT 6 in the Computer HD... so when we need to go to 5 to use any plug in we just restart the computer on the external drive and then he could work back and foward when ever we need to... I would appreciate if you could let me know what you think
Best Regards and happy Holydays Adrian Morales |

providing you have a mac that still can boot OS9 ... of course that will work ... external or internal / seperate hard disks ... or even partitionned .... it will work.

Don't forget to first check that your hardware is 100% OSX compatible, and if you have to change anything, make sure that it works with your present OS9.2 setup before even attempting OSX (better safe than sorry):
Personally I had to throw out my Appian Jeronimo 2000 and put a 9000 Radeon instead... On my setup, a 450 AGP G4 with a 1.2GHz cpu upgrade and a SBS 13 slot expansion chassis, I added a second internal HD, and installed OSX / PT6 etc. on that one. That way they work like perfectly seperate entities. I even kept most my 5.1 plugs authorized with the key disks or challenge / response, apart from a few like serato that had to be moved to iLok when upgrading to the OSX compatible version For the moment no major problems on both systems Mark
