as Im not an HD user, i cant say for sure, but in LE land, No. You would need to uninstall PT 8.x im 99.9% sure its the same for HD.

Ideally you would have an image and/or clone of your system with 7.4 cs 10 on it. That way you could either pop in the clone, or restore the image and be up and running like you never had PT8 installed in a matter of minutes.
If you dont have Acronis True Image you should really check it out. There are other imaging softwares, but i prefer Acronis. I use Acronis True Image Home 2010, with the plus pack, but they just released 2011, so if you are buying, be sure to get 2011. Its usually better to download and buy it right from Acronis.com instead of getting the box. Always keep at least 1 working backup image, and preferably also have a clone ready to go

what about going back 8.0.4 from 8.1? 8.1 is the pits I do have acronis
I'am running a sweetwater PC 2.4 quad core I never seen a OS that has been so unstable

I've never heard of any software you can reinstall the older version over the newest one without first uninstalling.

Can you install XP over W7 without wiping the drive? Can you install Reason 3 on top of Reason 4?

Uninstall the new stuff. Install the old stuff. That's all there is to it. Why would you NOT want to uninstall what is causing so much system instability? Don't be lazy...

..well you can use system restore. Done it several times.
