Default Dithered mixer/master fader clarification

True or not true:

Using the dithered mixer, if I'm not automating a fade on the master and have no plug-ins on it and it is at unity, I can bounce and the result will be dithered from 48-bits to 24-bits.

That was posed as a question. Anyone? Where's Chris Townsend when I need him?

I'm right here. Anyway, glad that the Tech Talk article answered your question. This is the type of question we have answered many times on the DUC, but it's nice to have one place where people can go to easily get answers.

Thanks Chris.

I think Digidesign could do a better job of making that article more easily found around here, especially since it was written, ostensibly, to put to rest a lot of speculation. Hidden away in the DigiZine, it may not reach as many people who come here for answers. Still, thanks to Stan for putting it all together and making it public. Magazine articles as well as postings in a forum are kind of ephemeral. A more permanent home, perhaps?

(I just wrote something else, but then remembered my oath never to opine on the internet.)
