Default The difference between R+I and only R?

What's the difference between:

Hearing when recording with both R and I lighted?

and

Hearing when recording with only R lighted?

You can hear the recording both way.I heard it's about pre-tape and post-tape?

The I is only post fader unless in pre fader mode. The R ONLY shows pre fader when actually recording . Pre fader mode shows the actual level of the signal you will be recording , plugs and fader will not affect the level you see. ONLY your input (preamp) can change this level. PT does not have a trim to record .
The level you send in is what you will record, PT can not adjust the recording volume in any way. The RD fader in stop with R blinking is post fader , So if you adjust the fader PT will show you the mix level , not the input level.
BUT
Like I said when recording PT can only show the pre fader level .

THIS IS A GOOD THING. for me at least .

What you hear with either or both pressed should be no different at all, it is just a visual aid. Does not affect the output volume you here at all .

None.

I is just input monitoring, which means you can hear the mics without needing to record it. Say you have an aux guide track and a talkback mic which you use to talk to the musician(s). Having that aux set to input monitoring allows you to talk and not being recorded.
