Looks like a serious disk corruption issue to me. Do you have a bootable backup?

What happens when you boot from an install CD/DVD?

Have you run DiskWarrior or Disk Utility on your system drive?

Hi Shaun.
Sorry to hear about your problem. I also upgaded from OSX 10.4.1 to 10.4.8 months ago and PT 6.9.2 would not load. According to what I saw then and also just a few minutes ago in the compatability section of this site, 6.9.2 is "officially supported" with 10.4.1 and 10.4.2. I suspect that this means that all subsequent OSX versions may not work. We are now running 10.4.4 with 6.9.2 very smoothly.
I hope you can easily retrograde OS or upgrade PT to version 7 smoothly.
I hope I've shed light...
Mark

Reboot holding down Command S. You'll boot into a black screen that looks like the Terminal.

Upon getting a cursor prompt, type fsck -fy (if I remember correctly.... There will be a blurb of text just above the cursor where you are typing telling you exactly what to type. Repeat the fsck command until the disk comes back clean. then type reboot. Search the apple site for fsck to get a little more info on what procedure you are starting by invoking the command. That way you can decide if it suits the problems you are having. It sounds to me like it should help, and it would be my first course of action. But since I'm not sitting in front of your machine I don't know for sure. Research the command before committing your entire system to it to make certain its applicable to your errors.

Cheers!
