Default X-Touch controller and automation

My gear is a Windows-11 PC, Pro Tools, latest version and a Behringer X-Touch DAW controller. Connection is USB, HUI protocol.

When I want to do some automation on a track, I select a track and then hit on the controller the automation buttons, Latch, Write, etc. But nothing happens, the lights of the buttons flash up, but they do not stay lit. (=not ok)

But when I activate the automation setting in PT (Write, Latch etc) and play the track, then I can automate with my fader. And this is recorded and can be used. (=ok)

When automation is applied anyway and I play the track, then the faders of my controller follow the automation. (=ok)

So, my question is, is this normal behavior, or am I missing something?

(=not ok) Are you selecting the track on the screen, or selecting the track on the controller first(I believe this is required)

But when I activate the automation setting in PT (Write, Latch etc) and play the track, then I can automate with my fader. And this is recorded and can be used. (=ok)

When automation is applied anyway and I play the track, then the faders of my controller follow the automation. (=ok)

Keep in mind that HUI is a somewhat limited protocol and it might not be able to do what you are trying for. I would check some youtube videos to see if another user shows the proper steps
