Default What does Not For Resale mean?

I have two pro tools hd 8 licenses registered to my account.

Under type, one says not for resale and the other one says license.

The not for resale license was activated onto an ilok, but the one that is of type license was not.

When I start pro tools hd 8, without the ilok, it asks for authorization. With it, it will start up correctly until it asks for required hardware, which I no longer have. But I'm assuming this means that there is no problem with authorization using the not for resale license.

Do I still need to load the license type onto the ilok? If I don't will I run into a license issue once I get the proper hardware?

In the ilok manager application the only difference I'm seeing between the two is the type as mentioned already and where it says allow to transfer. The not for resale says no, the license says yes.

But strictly for authorization, do these two have the same function or do they compliment each other?

Not for Resale, or normally referred in the industry as 'NFR', is a licence that has been given without charge either to a reviewer, artist or industry partner to use.

NFR normally means that the same rights (particularly in terms of being able to sell or transfer) are removed.

Many NFRs are date specific so may run out within an allotted time period, such as a month or 1 year. In that case it is shown in your iLok information.

Hope that helps.
