Default "Hickups" in Playback in 7.4

Turns out my system, ever since I upgraded to 7.4 (PPC G 5 Dual Processor) shows very annoying hickups, breaks and clicks during playback, sometimes even spitting out sound fragments shortly after I stop playback.

Of course this happens more with extensive track counts.

I have 7.4 straight up (no cs version) anybody encountered this?

New also is that even creating a simple region fade during playback will interrupt PB, displaying a warning referring to speed of harddrive /CPU.

In 7.2 I could do these edits without a problem.

Your 10 cts please

Try going to OS 10.4.11 if you have not done so yet. Otherwise, the high track count may be either due to a good preference trashing (I seem to have to do this a lot lately too) or there is a playback engine or buffer problem. Good luck

This is a known "feature" that everyone is mad about. Here is one of many discussions about it.

Just to eliminate possible errors, is your wordclock set properly and in sync - so your hiccups are not digital clicks?

Thanks guys,

I see that the Fade/Interrupting PB is well known - but my main (and first) issue was the Hiccups, meaning you can her actual interruptions, Audio fragments from a past segment of the song re-occuring, even sometimes one gets "thrown after you" when you stop PB....

When I lower track and bus count, things tend to get better.

Tried an internal HD, no change whatsoever. 7.4 is buggy! Shame shame....

Have you done all the General Troubleshooting steps as well as making sure ALL installed plug-ins are 7.4 compatible?

If not, it's likely that doing so will solve the problem.
